Quantities follow the official BCN3D Moveo docs: https://github.com/BCN3D/BCN3D-Moveo/tree/master/USER%20MANUAL. "Unverified" prices come from search listings or older BOMs that we could not confirm on the seller's product page.
3D printed parts
Needed. About 33 printed parts in PLA (BOM 202 to 232). Builders report 1.5 weeks of printing, or about 97 hours at 0.3 mm layers. The base parts are tall; Ender 3 owners print split versions from Thingiverse. Part 1M1 has a lip that needs supports. Files: https://github.com/BCN3D/BCN3D-Moveo/tree/master/STL%20files
Mistakes builders make
- No official wiring diagram exists; the request has been open since 2016. Plan to work out the TB6560 to RAMPS wiring yourself or from builder posts.
- The BOM motor names (SM42HT47, SM57HT112 and others) are hard to find. Builders buy by spec; one recommends a 3 Nm 4.2 A NEMA 23 for joint 2, but the TB6560 tops out around 3 A, so it will not reach full torque.
- Match pulley bores to your motors: the BOM uses 8 mm shaft NEMA 23s, while many 3 Nm NEMA 23s have 10 mm shafts. Unbored T5 pulleys can be drilled and reamed.
- The BOM lists 120 M5x14 screws, but one builder counted only 8 in the CAD assembly. Count against the manual before ordering.
- One builder found the 4M2 screw holes 30 mm apart while the gripper bottom plate is 24 mm, so the gripper does not bolt on without changes.
- To drive the gripper servo, power it from a separate 5 V supply; one builder also had to raise the Servo library refresh interval to stop jitter.
- To use the E0 and E1 driver outputs, set EXTRUDERS 2 and MOTHERBOARD 34 in Configuration.h, then pick a joint with T0 or T1 in Pronterface.
- One team found belt tension cracked printed parts, and the arm sagged under a heavier tool even with bigger motors.
FAQ
How much does it cost to build the BCN3D Moveo?
About $500 to $800 in parts at current prices, DIY sourcing of the official BOM at 2026 retail: 6 steppers, 6 TB6560 drivers, Mega plus RAMPS, 24V supply, bearings, T5 pulleys and belt, rods, bushings, about 300 screws and nuts, wood base. Low end buys motors from StepperOnline and drivers, bearings and screws in packs; high end buys more from US retail. Excludes about 3 kg of filament, a 3D printer, tools and shipping. BCN3D quoted 300 to 400 EUR in 2016-2017; that figure is stale..
Do I need a 3D printer for the BCN3D Moveo?
Yes.
